All of our lampshades are custom made to order when we receive a sale with meticulous detail in our wee workshop in Seddon. At Canary Junction we believe our lampshades are a piece of art, lit from within, that will brighten a corner, enhance a ceiling (pendant), pull together other styling elements and create an ambience and warmth to any room.
The fabrics we have in our shop are carefully selected, designed by international artists, printed onto quality fabrics and sourced to ensure that they are unique to the Australian market (usually purchased from the US or UK). We travel internationally twice a year and spend hours trawling though designer fabric shops. Sometimes we hit the jackpot and find a top end designer piece (which we find thrilling!!) but this also means we do not purchase fabric in bulk, limiting the number of shades we produce, so you can be assured that next door will not have the same lampshade! We also try and keep true to our brand and style, generally abstract, with a mid century twist or stripes (or otherwise a fabric we just can’t resist!).

We are also happy to collaborate with you if you would like to use your own fabric and happy to show you our successes in this area. We are passionate about colour, texture and styling and love bringing your vision to life!
Lampshade Sizing
The Shape: All of our lampshades are drum shaped in varying heights. Drum = Same diameter bottom and top
What size do I need: There are lots of diagrams of what size you need on the internet, but everyone has different taste and has a different lamp base so throw out the rules and buy what you will enjoy! Some suggestions below.
The Diameter: As a rule of thumb the 20cm & 25cm diameter are suitable for bedside lamps, the 30 & 35cm are suitable for table lamps and the 40cm, 45cm and 50cm suitable for floor lamps & pendants. The 40cm on smaller floor lamps or small rooms for pendants, 45cm is a good size for taller floor lamps or for pendants over a table where the ceiling is not too high and 50cm for chunkier/taller lamps and higher ceilings as pendants.
The Height: We can make most heights so if you don’t see it listed, get in touch. It’s really a personal preference. If you would like one of our shades in a different height than you see listed, we love changing things up!
